Richard passed away peacefully April 15th at home, with his best friend and wife by his side, after a 3 year battle with Myelofibrosis.

He was born in Endicott, NY, February 20, 1945. Richard is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Katie) of 53 years, his brother Duane Merritt (Pam), Traverse City, MI, aunt Myra Cregan, Rochester, NY, uncle Dwayne King of PA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Helen and Frank Pfaff, sister Carolyn King, stepfather Richard Merritt, uncle Edward Latham, and uncle Edward Cregan.

For over 40 years, Richard was employed in the hospitality/private club industry, initially as a hotel mgt. trainee, progressing to the position of CEO of The American Club Singapore for 10 years and CEO of The American Club Tokyo for 2 years. During retirement he earned his professional Chef credentials. Richard and Kathleen enjoyed their many moves and travels in the US, SE Asia, and Japan. Richard worked smart and hard, providing them with a charmed life entertaining and learning from presidents, ambassadors, political leaders, celebrities, and most of all from local residents.
