Obituary of Joyce Alma Taylor

Joyce Alma Taylor went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2020 at the age of 90. Originally from Bristol, Virginia, she was a long-time resident of Merritt Island, Florida, but lived the last few years of her life at The Mayflower Senior Community in Winter Park, Florida where she enjoyed singing in the chorus. She worked at a newspaper, as a court reporter, at a Christian bookstore, and as a homemaker. Her passion was studying and teaching the Bible in Sunday School and Bible studies for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle and Pearl Carrier, and by her beloved husband, Robert W. (Bob) Taylor. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Alan) Winfield, her daughter, Lou (David) Jones, and her granddaughters, Kara and Mollie Jones. She deeply loved God and His Word and devotedly loved her family and friends. Those who knew her well can testify to her courage, beautiful smile, sweet spirit, faithfulness, and willingness to come alongside others to help and encourage them in the Lord. She believed with all her heart that for a Christian to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, so her family grieves with the hope of the resurrection as we celebrate her life well lived. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Orlando. Those who wish to honor her memory with a gift are encouraged to consider two of her favorite ministries: Grace to You and Samaritan’s Purse.
